The Hyperion Group is headquartered in New York, where it was founded in 1988 by Lewis Ranieri, former vice chairman of Salomon Brothers. Hyperion's family of funds comprises a series of successful merchant banking funds that invest in both start-ups and mature companies. In aggregate, the Hyperion funds and their respective portfolio companies manage more than $1 billion in capital.
Hyperion has proven expertise in organizing IPOs and equity offerings. These offerings have at times been exit events and at other times been a vehicle for raising less expensive public equity to fully actualize a portfolio company's business plan.
