We are interested in investments on early stage. Our investment emphasis is somewhat fluid as we constantly adapt our strategy to changing local and global macroeconomic environments.

Hyperion Israel believes that in order to be successful in Israeli venture capital, funds require a strong expertise in both Israel and the international markets.
On the one hand, Hyperion Israel has a strong foundation in Israel. Hyperion Israel quickly established its own reputation through its Israeli members of the General Partner who include CEOs and leaders from Israels top operating companies, venture capital funds, and investment banks. Additionally, some of the members of the General Partner serve on the Boards of Directors of some of the leading companies in Israel.

What are Hyperions investment criteria and what target areas are of most interest to Hyperion?
Hyperion invests in Israeli or Israel-related startups specializing in cutting edge technologies in the following fields:
· Selected segments in Telecommunications, such as IP based solutions, broadband access, rich content delivery, and newly evolving wireless technologies
· Semiconductors and Optronic components
· Information Technology, including enterprise software in the domains of network security, network and storage management and Internet-enabling technologies
· Medical Devices
· Other emerging technologies
In considering potential investments, we look for companies that are developing technologies that answer real needs in currently unexploited fields, that offer a significant technological and competitive advantage over current approaches, or that open the way for a novel market application. Equally important is the caliber of the people behind the startup: we look for an exceptional team with a clear vision, relevant experience and a high level of commitment and integrity. We also look for a compelling business model and clearly defined target markets with high growth potential.
What is the average size of an initial investment?
While we invest at all stages, we prefer to invest at the early stage where the initial investment can usually range between $1M and $5M.
Does Hyperion prefer to lead a round?
Yes, we do prefer that Hyperion be the lead and/or only investor. However, we are also open to co-investing in funding rounds led by other VCs.

Usually we seek representation on the company's board of directors in order to support management. We match the experience and expertise of our team members with our portfolio companies, enabling us to offer valuable operational and strategic guidance.
